Today I am 31. 31 on paper seems old, not that old but older. I still swear I am 25 and sometimes act like that crazy, naive 21 year old. That good old cliche of age is just a number or you're only as old as you feel is something I am starting to believe a little more every year. I still remember when my mom turned 31 and that to me is just surreal. Age is one of those things that just seems to creep up a little faster each year and you find yourself seeing your little brother become a real grown up or looking at the latest, greatest wrinkle cream. Realizing your parents are closer to 60 than 50 is also something that I can not wrap my head around. Maybe I have a difficult time with change? Nah, it just seems like time is going by in the blink of an eye. When I turned 30, many people told me your 30s are the best. Hmm. The jury is still out on that but let's see what 31 brings.
But I must say the best thing about turning 31 is that I will be spending a week in paradise. No kids saying my name a billion times a day, no correcting work, no planning, no laundry, no getting up early. All I need to worry about is which drink matches my swimsuit. (As long as it has booze in it, I don't care what color it is.) So let the week long birthday celebration begin! Aloha!!

Wait, that means it's been TEN YEARS since our houseboat summer. O. M. G.
Happy birthday and have FUN! A tropical vacation sounds amaaaaazing. And, of course, my fingers are crossed that 31 is your best year ever. Might be hard to beat working 2 hours a week as a tour guide and watching 90210 on our futons the other 887 hours .... but one never knows. ;)
